life doesn't frighten me
« on: September 13, 2006, 08:17:40 PM »
here is a poem i wrote years ago..i wrote it after i read a poem by maya angelou... it got me thinking about stuff..and this came to my head. what do you think?

Life Doesn't Frighten Me

I'm not afraid of life!
Not at all,
Not now, Not ever.

Deadly Diseases. . .
People dying here and there. . .
Failure. . .
These are threats from life
But still I'm not afraid
Not at all
Not now, Not ever

Life is real!
Well so am i. . .
Neither can exist without the other. . .
Both want to win. . .
I Know I can win
Cos Life doesn't frighten me
Not at all
Not NOW! Not EVER!

That lady is awesome.

Koolme thank you for your research. I will also see what I can find out about these
three poets. You are right about Nigerian Men dominating the poetry world.
Perhaps this is more to do with our culture in general.

How I would love to read the greetings and poems that mothers sing to their children.
As it goes it is verbal and appears to be handed down from generation to generation
in that way and not written down.

There is a yoruba word which I will not attempt to spell here. It basically means something
like * greetings and praises* If anyone knows it spell it for me please.
I often wonder if any of these have been recorded and published.

Koolme thank you for your hard work. :D
