46 years of Independence from British Rule
« on: September 18, 2006, 05:32:35 PM »
Independence Day is not so far away.

I woke up this morning with thoughts of the elaborate celebrations

the Nigerian Government will be putting on. Probably including

lavish dinner celebrations as part of the festivities.

I tried to think of all Nigeria's main achievements but could only

come up with one thing.

HOW COME MONEY FROM OIL IS NOT USED TO BETTER THE NATION?

Why are there so many innocent people struggling while our leaders

are driven around in their bullet proof cars?

I know I won't be celebrating Independence day, Not until all people

have an equal stance in life!!!

What exactly has Nigeria achieved in the last 46 years?

Maybe you have a different view..please tell  me.

As a token of  so called love for his people OBJ has freed

Biafran Soldiers. Wait a minute..they have been in prison

for  36 years... :o >:( .  How come nobody gave these people

a second thought? Once again proof how Nigeria covers

things up.  I wonder what His government will do to

help them, gain skills to live within society. ???

I wonder what the next 46 years will bring.

Na de ting whey pain me for belle I talk so... :( :o

The problem here is not being ruled by another country.

It is what has Nigeria achieved?? Nigeria needs to wake up

and move forward. But the problem is.. the Leaders are

eating the money, and not building Nigeria. >:(

This is why we keep seeing different politicians being

exposed and investigated. ::)

Why do they keep stealing and not doing something good

to develop the Nation???

Miguel, after reading your post again, I noticed you mentioned about stopping internal

wars and problems. I have to agree with you 100%. If we do not make sure our house

is in order first, there is no way forward. I have said this so many times, and I will repeat

myself. PLEASE STOP USING THE MONEY FOR WARS. Use it to better the nation.

Independence day is now over. Let us watch and see how the Nation develops.

it's great to see a consciousness of our need for real developments and achievements even if it's only among a very few of us.
If we keep hoping that the present crop of leadrers will change and suddenly be transformed into true leaders then we might have have to wait till eternity.I  hope that in the next 46 years we won't still be crying about bad rulers (not leaders) but we would have celebrated true liberation from oppresive rule and will have a true democracy in place.
I've heard a lot of people say that time will make Nigeria work out right but I believe now that if we don't hear the wake up call of time and see the writing on the wall, time will only mock us and show us just how stupid we've been. like I said it's great that some people know that we need real changes but if we stop there,we would still be sleeping. I believe that really patriotic nigerians should slowly but surely replace the existing crop of leaders if this country is to move ahead.
Try to do good each day and you willl be amazed at how big it'll be at the end of the year. One love Nigeria :)
