INTERNET BEYOND COMMUNICATION AND EMAIL

The word internet has change the world for good and for bad. However, the good aspect of it will always supersede the bad site of it.
90% of internet users tend to use it for communicational and transactional motive. But it beyond that.

What about securing your self, properties as well as the safety of your child at home in the hand of child minder or house help, or the unfaithful spouse? Well, Internet can do all these for you.

This bring us to the idea Remote Digital Security: a means where by you mount a camera in your home say in Nigeria , with the help of wireless transmittal , web camera , web server you can see what is going on in your remote house where ever you are once you can log on to the internet..

Network Video Servers transmit streaming video over the Internet or LAN. The video sent by the servers can be recorded on your computer's hard disks with the special recording software. The servers can also send still pictures to email addresses by built-in motion detection or by time schedule.

With intrusion detection system  the system can even send l image to your email address, send a text alert if there is anyone in your house when you are not even there.

Tell me if we have all these facilities in place in Nigeria it would help a lot. But will it work again when the security service personnel are corrupt?

I agree, the internet has so many different services to offer.

I sincerely believe that all these services are dependant on

the provision of power (electric supply/light)

And even with Generator Backup there is still the few moments

between the main power system going down and  the Generator

takeing effect.

Nigeria has to sort out this issue of power supply first. Perhaps

this is why, these advanced services, which we take for granted

abroad, just have not come into being available in Nigeria.

On the news recently, a new development has taken place.

The CCTV..all seeing eyes of the Streets, has a new function.

Not only are all your movements tracked, but now  a voice

will infact warn you and advice you to move on or stop what

you are doing. It is being used to break up noisey crowds,

and any form of negative activity. Infact it is the new weapon,

that can be used in a court of Law as evidence against you..

should you decide..to carry on regardless of the warnings.

Back in 1999 my alarm system was set such that it had 3

numbers , it would phone your first number, and then your

second.  If there is still no answer it would connect to the

police who would then take action. It is so good to see

that visual protection is given. Especially where women and

children are concerned.

<Sighs> How I wish Nigeria would Buckle up and catch up

with the rest of the world.

I agree with both of you. But the problem with we nigerians is that we only think of how to get d bad side of things to make money. but anyway, i have to give kudos to those who genuinely make money on the net.

Things have changed  so much since the time this topic was initially posted.
Amazingly, youtube was born in 2005, today you can actually create your
own play lists on youtube, and even send them to your friends.
Telephone calls too have become so much cheaper, and pc to pc calls are
free.  How many of us make any attempt to keep up with new technology?
Or is it a case of, being too lazy to click that button?
