Do you mean addiction to the internet?
As in spending long hours online playing internet games
and chatrooms and surfing the web?
If that is the case, I admit I spend long hours online.
Some of it is spent working. Once I get into playing
online games, I find it hard to log off, simply because
it is all about getting to the next level. Most sites store
your scores and if you log off in the middle of a game
then your ratings do not get recorded, and you might
have actually passed a particular level.
If I am unable to get online, because my computer is
not working, I get very anxious. To me the internet is
my life line. The means by which I send and receive
emails to friends and family. The computer and Internet
are the tools by which we are able to do most things.
I guess this partly explains why we spend so much time
online. I am not addicted. . I agree some people are
addicted in that they arrange their lives around the pc.
I saw on the tv recently that some parents have become
so desperate because their children, spend anything up to
as in the case of a particular teenager 20 hours a day,
playing games. He even could not even bear to go to
the toilet so he arranged a convenient method in his room.
That is what you call addiction. I understand there is a place
somewhere in Holland that one can go to for help.
One piece of advice is, every hour get up and take a walk.
Stretch your legs and rest your eyes.
