MothersDay
« on: March 05, 2007, 11:10:41 AM »
It bugs me when i see or hear nigerians celebrating the so-called mothers day.  Whats its significance, is it the commercialisation that is been celebrated or the spirit of it. i honestly think celebrating mothers day is just another form of western colonisation. MothersDay is an European/American term,  its that  time part of the year set aside for their kids to for once value that parents. it expires after 12 hours and their kids starts slapping the parents around the house again. As an African everyday is a mothersaday for me and my siblings. I think its time nigerians start imposing their own views  and culture on the western lifestyle. MothersDay my A**E

Exactly. Mother's day is actually based and steeped in paganism.
You see these children just acting out and given a token show
of love and affection.
I have to be honest..I stay away from that stuff.
It's another excuse for the commercial world to drain people's pockets.

It is an insult to Motherhood, that  a few hours should be set aside
once a year for children to pretend.
Motherly love is supposed to start at conception, into birth and through
breast feeding leading on as days go by.

Love is supposed to be shared naturally and freely, not when the
commercial world says so.
