GARMENT CHURCHES
« on: July 09, 2006, 08:48:47 PM »
The stereotype about garment churches is that they are more inferior to the New generation Churches.
What is your opinion about these churches?

Hi every1,
i really dont garment churches are inferior in any way to the new generetion churches. We believe with our heart, it is better if we leave God to be judge of every1 as wellas situations. some pple like prophecies about the future and all that while some believe that this act is in a way demonic.
Tho i attend a new generation Church but i believe that God is the best judge.

I think the issue goes alot deeper than just inferior.  The majority of my peers who attend these new age churches have a complete stereotype of how garment churches really are.  If I mention to them that I go to a garment church they instantly think of bad things and black magic.
I feel that the true concept of garment churches have been filtered through generation and changed.
Many people fail to realise that it's through God and not man that all things are possible. So they begin to think that if they do not do certain works or see certain people for one thing or another then that thing that they are looking for will not come to pass.

Garment Chruches are not inferior to any other church! We are equal to all other churchs as i am sure whatever church you go to you will find faults and somewhat integration of culture into your particular way of worships.

In the bible it says there are different services but the same God we are serving, the same Holy Spirit of God manifests in different ways through prophesying and speaking in tongues - it is the same spirit.

Also it says we do not know what spirit people have, so we should not discourage people from worshipping in a way which is beneficial to them.

For examle we choose not to eat certain thins, and because of our rules and regulations you see the holy spirit manifesting in ways different to other churches. Same way how John the Baptist only ate certain things that were right with his Spirit

And lets not forget 1st Corintians. It is good to speak in tongues - but desire further more that ye may prophesy - so how can prophesying be develish? Is it not the Holy Spirit of God that gives the message?

At the end of the day we serve a God so wonderful and pure and holy that he tends to all of our needs in different ways by the various services and denominations we have. When we die we do not get judged as a congregation we get judged as an individual - make sure whattever u are doing is right by you. As long as we believe that Jesus Christ the Son of God died to save us from our sins and we follow the bible we are all CHRISTIANS.

So let us stop this weakening segregation that other religions can see as our weakness - we are all on the same team!

Garment Churches are those Churches that wear uniform so to say. To be specific Cele and C&S in Originated from NIgeria are typical examples and they also believe in Prophecy and visions.

Wale thankyou..

Hmmm I used to be a member of cele back in Nija.

I had a terrible experience and decided to leave.

The lies and fake prophecies that were given to me,

just because one Old Man wanted to marry me.

I am not being rude..cos then I was only 21.

The *Old Man* in question was supposed to

be a family friend o. Thank God I had the wisdom

and strength to leave that church. >:(

No!! I don't like those kind of churches.

PrincessB

They really scare me.!!!!

 ??? ::) ???

what i'll never understand is why people judge a whole church (denomination) (which members can be as many as millions) because on one person or few people's craziness...?

it's like saying all nigerians are theives just because some lazy ones keep doing fraud!!!

All the negative things that happens in 'white garment churches' happens in other churches as welll.... You know why... cos we all have one thing in common... we are all human.... and human are all BUT perfect!!! (we all have faults)

I get angry when we segregate each other... i mean is xtianity not about JESUS... God's love for all....????

We all have different callings, so of cos we would go to different churches....

To understand a church one has to know it history... the purpose of the church.... each church fulfill different needs!!! so yes their ways of doing things would differ... as the way apostle paul differed from peter....!!!

KoolMe

Yeah we are all imperfect..

but if something does not feel right or good,

then remove yourself from the frying pan and

don't get burnt in the fire.

God's word says all those not producing fine

fruit will be cut down.

His words not mine.

I totally agree

If a church does  not do it for you - be it methodist, baptist, c&s or pentecostal then feel free to find one you feel more at home in.

But just because it is not for you that does not mean that they are wrong in any way or less than any other church at all.

When a non christian person sees a christian acting in a very ungodly way he / she percieves christianinty in a bad way. But the whole point of christianity is to be Christ like. The bible tells us that Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith. So let that be so. Falso prophets etc will all be judged accordingly. They shall not and will not determine my faith

In my own words - garment churches rock - its clear for all to see His grace is upon us!

If there is ONE God, surely there will be one set way of doing things,

when it comes to worshipping him?

So why all the different rules and different denominations?

You can see from the Bible he clearly made it known that there are

those who do things in a way to please themselves and they are

not pleasing him!!!!

Garments that are worn in Churches are becoming more and more revealing. You go to church to worship and serve God not to flash everyone and show off ur asses. This can be seen with our generation and what we tend to wear to church. People disregard that u not only go to church to worship God, but to celebrate as well, instead of wearing  nice colorful clothes one will wear to a party they will wear Jeans,T-shirt and at times bathroom slippers.

I am shocked that anyone would wear bathroom slippers to church.
I agree, people should dress modestly, instead of exposing their bodie's.
Imagine how distracted people will be :o
